Video (casino) poker starts with placing a random bet. Press the "DEAL" button to deal cards. The player is given the opportunity to keep or replace one or more cards with new ones. After the draw, a machine evaluates a hand and pays out the winnings if the hand matches any of the winning combinations according to the given odds.
If your hand is in combination, the casino entitles you to double the amount won so far ("DOUBLE" button). This is most often done by offering a choice: guess what the next card will be drawn - black or red, or you have to draw a card higher than the casino's. If you are lucky and double - the casino will offer to try to double again. You can also collect your winnings via the "COLLECT" button.
On a typical video poker machine, the minimum hand is a pair of jacks. Some machines offer progressive jackpots for the Royal Flush, (and sometimes for other rare hands as well), thus encouraging players to play more often.
There are variations of video poker in which one or two jokers are added to the standard deck. They are usually called "Joker poker" or something similar. The joker can be any card from the deck: for example, you have four spades + the joker is a flush. Or you have two jacks and two kings + joker is a full house.
